The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has arrested a third suspect following the December 2023 homicide of Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert.
On Friday, police announced that Hazel Flett, 37, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She is in custody.
CTV News Winnipeg previously reported that two other suspects—Christopher Kyle Wattman and Victoria Lee Andrews—were also charged with first-degree murder in Hiebert’s death.
Police noted the victim and three suspects were acquaintances.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
This news comes nearly 14 months after Hiebert, 20, was found dead in the 200 block of Flora Avenue on Dec. 20, 2023.
According to police, the victim was fatally assaulted in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue and then moved to Flora Avenue, where his body was discovered.
