The month of April starts off with snowfall scattered across parts of the province. This is Manitoba, after all.
Light snow will mainly fall in the western half of Manitoba today and tonight.
In the southwest, many areas will see intermittent snow, including Brandon, where two to four centimetres is expected this afternoon. Dauphin should see less, with two cm forecast for that region.
Snow is expected as far east as Portage la Prairie. Winnipeg might be grazed with a few flurries, but no significant precipitation.
Temperatures are still on the cool side Tuesday, remaining just below the freezing mark in the southwest, while rising just above it in Winnipeg and the southeast.
Further north, light snow will spread Tuesday afternoon in areas closer to the Saskatchewan border, including Lynn Lake, Flin Flon and The Pas.
Meanwhile, the northeast will bask in the sunshine. With clearer skies, though, come colder temperatures – Churchill starts the month of April with a chilly high of -15 C expected this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Northwestern Ontario is bracing for a significant early April snowstorm starting Wednesday morning.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued several weather alerts for the region, including snowfall warnings for Dryden and Fort Frances, where 15-20 cm of snowfall is expected by Thursday morning.
At this point, ECCC said the track for a low pressure system trends nearly entirely east of Lake of the Woods. That said, the southeast corner of Manitoba could get clipped with five cm of snow.
Another low will bring snow to northern Manitoba on Wednesday night.
