Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Weather tug of war continues

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for March 12, 2025.

The March tug of war between winter and spring conditions is set to continue over the next few days in Manitoba.

Sunshine and mild temperatures are on tap on Wednesday for most southern regions. Enjoy those conditions while they last—they will be changing soon.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting a winter wallop starting Thursday for a large swath of Manitoba.

The weather agency said snow will start Thursday in northern and central regions and continue into the weekend, with 10-25 cm of snowfall possible with the risk of blowing snow.

Meanwhile, ECCC said to watch for a round of freezing rain on Friday afternoon for areas further south, with significant amounts possible.

ECCC forecasts snow will move into southwestern Manitoba late Wednesday night, with freezing rain possible.

Snow, and possibly freezing rain, is expected to spread into Winnipeg and the southeast overnight into Thursday morning. Be prepared for a potentially slippery morning commute.

ECCC forecasts two cm of snowfall on Thursday for the city.

At this point, conditions Thursday night are expected to be calm for Winnipeg, with a mostly cloudy sky.

Rain showers are possible on Friday in the city. By Friday evening into the overnight hours, rain showers, flurries, and freezing rain are all possible.

Light snow is possible on Saturday in strong winds.
