Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has ended a snowfall warning for Winnipeg.
The weather agency downgraded the warning to a special weather statement for the city late Thursday afternoon.
ECCC said a short but intense band of snow is still expected to pass through the Winnipeg region during Thursday evening’s rush, with 2 to 4 cm of snowfall possible.
A wintry wallop is still expected for southern Manitoba north of Winnipeg and Brandon, where snowfall warnings remain in effect Thursday.
ECCC said a low pressure system will bring heavy and rapidly accumulating snow to parts of western and southcentral Manitoba Thursday night and Friday.
The weather agency forecasts total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm of snowfall between Thursday night and overnight Friday into Saturday.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate in the snowfall warned regions by Thursday evening, as winds strengthen causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Snowfall warnings have also been issued for parts of northwestern Ontario including Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
