Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for March 21, 2025.
Friday is the first full day of spring, but you wouldn’t know it by the chilly temperatures in southern Manitoba.
An arctic front that started to pass over the region Thursday night paved the way for an arctic high to sit over the province today.
It brought strong north winds to Winnipeg and the southeast that continue Friday.
Forecast daytime highs this afternoon are closer to normal overnight lows for this time of year.
Winnipeg is only forecast to reach -9 C Friday. The normal overnight low for the city is currently -10 C.

In case you’re wondering, the normal daytime high for Winnipeg right now is 1 C.
On the bright side, the sun will shine across both northern and southern Manitoba this afternoon.
Next door in northwestern Ontario, there will be some sunshine. However, there is also the chance of flurries, albeit a low one.
Temperatures are also expected to fall this afternoon in some communities, including Dryden, Fort Frances, and Sioux Lookout.
Ahead on Saturday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said an Alberta clipper will cross Saskatchewan and spread a warm front across the southern Prairies.
The weather agency added the low pressure system will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to southern Manitoba by Saturday afternoon.
Snow is possible in Winnipeg Saturday night into Sunday morning.
ECCC said the system will be stronger in the U.S. and that accumulations will be light for many places on our side of the international border. Still, localized accumulations of 5-10 cm are possible.
