Weekend deep freeze isn’t set to stay, temperatures to rebound Monday

Following a milder day on Friday, temperatures plunged overnight and are expected to remain frigid before rebounding early next week.

During a flash freeze like we’ve experienced it’s important to remember a couple of things to keep you safe.

It’s important to drive according to the conditions - allowing for extra stopping distance, and keeping in mind that bridges may be icier than roads.

The deep freeze isn’t set to last, temperatures are projected to be above freezing Monday, and into next week.

Saturday: Mainly cloudy. 30 percent chance of flurries this morning. Wind north 20 km/h becoming light early this morning. High minus 4. Wind chill minus 15 this morning and minus 8 this afternoon. UV index 2 or low.

Saturday night: A few clouds. Wind up to 15 km/h. Temperature steady near minus 6. Wind chill near minus 12.

Sunday: Becoming cloudy in the morning then snow changing to periods of drizzle or freezing drizzle in the afternoon. Snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind up to 15 km/h. High zero. Wind chill minus 11 in the morning.

Monday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. High plus 2.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 2.

Wednesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. High plus 2.
