OFSAA hockey returns to the region

Published:

A Windsor school is the host for the provincial hockey playoffs, and they were off to a strong start.

OFSAA hockey is back in the region for the second time in three years.

Host team St. Anne came out strong, opening the provincial championships with three straight wins.

They edged out I.E. Weldon Secondary from Lindsay 3-2 Wednesday morning, but fell by the same score in the afternoon to Nantyr Shores Secondary from Innisfil.

The Saints played a great tournament, but have been eliminated.

“Great community, well supported, well organized this year. Atlas facility here where majority of games are being played is amazing. I think a number of teams have never been here, and they’re all commenting how much they love playing here,” said Tim Clayton, OFSAA hockey convenor.

The playoff round continues Thursday in Lakeshore.
