The Town of LaSalle has launched LaSalle Senior Active Living (LSAL), which will begin in April.

These programs will see wellness, educational activities, social events, and drop-in programs for those 55 years old and up. The town said they will take place at various municipal locations in LaSalle.

“We are thrilled to launch LaSalle Senior Active Living, a program to enrich the lives of older adults through a diverse range of activities,” said Patti Funaro, director of culture and recreation.

“We look forward to seeing participants enjoy the benefits of this new program.”

Sessions that are approaching are:

Weekly Learn and Activity Sessions

You can engage in “enriching activities”, which are designed to promote health, wellness, and social connection. These sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning next week. Each class will have a different focus, such as yoga, wellness, water activities, card games, painting, knitting, crocheting, and more.

Pole Walking

Thursdays at 10 a.m., beginning next week, you can join the pole walking program, enjoying the weather and getting some exercise. The group will meet every week at different parks to explore LaSalle’s trails. In the event of poor weather, the program will move inside to the Vollmer Centre. Walking poles will be provided.

Cyber Seniors

Tech savvy staff will meet with seniors to offer one-on-one help with electronic devices. This program will begin on April 28 at 10 a.m.

Other sessions will include Coffee with a Community Leader and Sneakers and Speakers sessions. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

If you would like to participate, pre-registration is required. It opens two weeks before the day of the activity, open to all people 55 years old and up.
