A Yukon man is facing charges related to illegal firearms manufacturing and a warrant is out for his arrest, B.C.’s anti-gang policing unit says.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.’s illegal firearms team began its investigation into the suspect in August 2022, after the Canada Border Services Agency reported a shipment of firearms parts, according to the RCMP.
The parts were intended for making 3D-printed ghost guns and were to be shipped to an individual in Canada, police said.
Six months later, in February 2023, police say they executed a search warrant on a home in Whitehorse which yielded “items consistent with an alleged firearms manufacturing operation,” as well as two conventional firearms.
Nearly two years after that, last Friday, Mounties laid charges against 28-year-old Whitehorse resident Anthony Luis Eduardo Desjarlais.
The charges include one count each of firearms manufacturing, firearms trafficking, possession of an unauthorized firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
The CFSEU says the Whitehorse RCMP are looking for Desjarlais and asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact their local police.
