One man is in hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Yaletown early Friday morning.

A victim was seriously injured in a stabbing early Friday near the SkyTrain station in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood, according to authorities.

Vancouver police say a 32-year-old was stabbed around 1 a.m. outside a condo building near Mainland and Hamilton streets, after a “verbal confrontation” between the victim and suspects.

He was taken to hospital with injuries police describe as serious, but not life-threatening.

The nearby Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station was seen cordoned off with police tape, after the victim reportedly collapsed at the entrance.

In an alert to commuters around 6:30 a.m., TransLink said the station was closed due to a police incident. The station reopened to the public just before 8 a.m.

Two suspects, both 18 years old, were arrested at the scene and remain in custody, the Vancouver Police Department said in an update later Friday morning.

The VPD asked anyone with information to call the major crime section at 604-717-2541.
