Woman’s 2022 death in Lytton, B.C., now treated as homicide, police say

Published:

A mysterious death in the fire-ravaged community of Lytton, B.C., three years ago is now being treated as a homicide.

The body of Shenita Myers, a 27-year-old from Williams Lake, was found at a Lytton home in February 2022, under circumstances authorities quickly deemed suspicious.

The B.C. RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit assumed conduct of the case, and confirmed Wednesday that Myers’ death is under investigation as a possible homicide.

In a statement, Staff Sgt. Jason Smart urged any potential witnesses in the community to come forward and speak with the RCMP.

“With the passage of time, it is hoped that someone who may have not been willing or able to talk to investigators two years ago, may now be in a better position to provide information,” Smart said.

Authorities did not provide any further information on why Myers’ death is being treated as a homicide.

The RCMP said anyone with information relevant to Myers’ death can contact the Southeast District MCU at 1-877-987-8477.
