A man in his 50s is dead after a hit-and-run collision in Vancouver’s Fairview neighbourhood Friday night.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of West 12th Avenue and Hemlock Street, the Vancouver Police Department said in a news release Saturday.

According to police, the victim was standing on the south side of the avenue when “it appears he collapsed, fell onto the road and was struck by an approaching vehicle.”

The driver, who was eastbound on West 12th Avenue at the time, did not stop and has not been located, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has security or dash cam video should call the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012 or email vpdciu@vpd.ca, police said.
