A man has been arrested and a substance suspected to be cocaine has been seized in Langford, B.C.

Police in Langford, B.C., uncovered a drug trafficking operation and seized several small bags of suspected cocaine after an officer stumbled across a suspicious vehicle last week.

According to a statement by the West Shore RCMP, a crime reduction unit officer suspected drug trafficking was taking place after seeing a vehicle engage in “suspicious activity” while on patrol, March 22.

Police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Awsworth Road and Sooke Road in Langford, where the driver was arrested for drug trafficking related offences and approximately 45 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine was seized.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Colwood man, has been released from custody and will appear in court at a date not yet specified by police.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, said the statement.

West Shore RCMP’s Insp. Stephen Rose said police have recently carried out discussions with the local community and have “consistently heard” that the dismantling of organized crime and drug trafficking is a top priority.

“We are committed to upholding these priorities and maintaining public safety,” he said.
