Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged bomb threat at an ICBC location in East Vancouver Friday morning.
The Vancouver Police Department said the incident unfolded at the ICBC Driver Services Centre near Commercial Drive and 12th Avenue shortly before 10 a.m.
An employee called police around that time to report a man had “entered the business and claimed he had a bomb in his backpack,” Const. Tania Visintin told CTV News, in an email.
Officers helped staff evacuate the building, and took one man into custody. Police have not released the suspect’s name, as he has not been charged.
He did not have a bomb on him, Visintin confirmed.
Authorities are expecting to recommend charges of uttering threats and public mischief in connection with the incident.
