A shooting in Chilliwack in the early hours of Friday morning sent a man to hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
The Chilliwack RCMP says officers were called to the area of Princess Avenue and Williams Street just before 1 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
In a brief statement about the incident, Mounties said their investigation is in its early stages and they believe the shooting was targeted with no further risk to public safety.
“Chilliwack RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation and the public can expect to see a continued police presence in the area,” the statement reads.
Police asked anyone with information to call the Chilliwack detachment at 604-792-4611 or leave an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
