A public hearing looking into alleged sexual misconduct by a Vancouver Police Department sergeant will begin in April, says the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner.
The hearing, running from April 7 until April 10 in Burnaby, relates to allegations of sexual misconduct from seven women against Sgt. Keiron McConnell.
The women include female police officers, and former students of his criminal justice courses.
McConnell served as an officer for more than 33 years, including 18 years as a Vancouver police sergeant, and worked as an instructor at numerous higher educational institutions and the Justice Institute of B.C., the OPCC said in a statement in June.
The hearing is the first since changes allowing the OPCC to call to call public hearings earlier in the discipline process came into effect.
Retired provincial court judge Carol Baird Ellan has been appointed at the hearing’s adjudicator. Should the hearing need to continue, it will run until May 8 in Vancouver, the OPCC said.
