Mounties are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Chilliwack, B.C.

A statement from the local RCMP detachment says patrol officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the 3500 block of Boundary Road at approximately 9:10 p.m.

Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.

The Chilliwack RCMP declined to provide more information about the victim, including his approximate age, or whether he was an adult or a youth.

“No further details about the driver or deceased will be provided at this time as the investigation is ongoing,” a spokesperson for the detachment said in an email Tuesday.

The vehicle involved in the crash has been identified, according to police.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased in their time of mourning,” said Sgt. Ryan Dauphinee, in the statement.

Anyone with information related to the fatal collision is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.
