A nurse was assaulted with a weapon at Langley Memorial Hospital earlier this month, according to authorities.
Police were called to the health-care facility around 12:15 a.m. on March 8, Langley RCMP said in a news release Monday – nine days after the incident.
“Officers arrived and located hospital security who were engaging with an alleged suspect that had physically assaulted a nurse and had produced an edged weapon,” the statement from the detachment said.
No one was injured, according to police. A 37-year-old man was arrested but not charged, and he has since been released from custody.
“It’s deeply concerning, not only or the community but also for hospital staff who are simply doing their best to provide health care to everyone,” spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said.
