Numerous West Kelowna homes defaced by antisemitic graffiti

Published:

A series of homes have been spray-painted with red and black swastika symbols in West Kelowna.

Police in West Kelowna are investigating after graffiti depicting dozens of swastikas was left on several homes Friday morning.

Images from the scene show swastikas painted onto numerous homes, gates, and road signs in the 2500-block of Whitworth Road.

While the symbols have been scrawled backwards, they have been spraypainted in the red and black associated with antisemitism and the infamous flag of the German Nazi party.

In a release issued Friday evening, Cpl. Michael Gauthier of the Kelowna RCMP said the police are still yet to identify anyone who may have been involved, or their motivation for the hateful vandalism.

“Officers are still canvassing for witnesses and video evidence,” he said.

Anyone who may have information regarding the incident, or who has cameras in the area and may have caught relevant video, is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-2880 and reference file number 2025-2930.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.net.
