A man has been charged with murder in a fatal stabbing outside a Metro Vancouver pub this weekend, according to authorities.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation team provided an update on the case the Monday.
Timothy Vansnick, 32, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and remains in custody.
Coquitlam RCMP officers were called to the John B pub for reports of a fight on Friday night around 9:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the victim, a 35-year-old man, seriously injured. Despite bystanders' efforts to provide first-aid, he died at the scene.
A second man was arrested at the scene, and has been released without charges.
“We would like to thank the staff and patrons at the pub who rendered their assistance and did the right thing by cooperating with the police,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “Their quick-thinking and willingness to help led to a swift arrest.”
