Mounties are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck by a vehicle and critically injured Wednesday in Burnaby, B.C.

The 57-year-old pedestrian was struck shortly before 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Imperial Street and Acacia Avenue.

A statement Thursday from the Burnaby RCMP says the woman was transported to hospital while the driver of a Nissan Sentra, which was travelling east on Imperial Street when the crash occurred, remained on scene and is co-operating with investigators.

The RCMP detachment’s criminal collision investigation team is working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, police said.

“If you witnessed the collision or have dashcam video and have not yet spoken to police, we would like to hear from you,” Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the statement.

Investigators are specifically looking for video taken between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday near Imperial Street, Acacia Avenue, and Hersham Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
