A 33-year-old man from Penticton, B.C., is in police custody facing weapons charges after Mounties say he was in possession of a suspected 3D-printed handgun when he was arrested earlier this week.

Seamus Kirby was apprehended on outstanding warrants in Penticton on Tuesday.

Court records show he was wanted on outstanding charges of drugs and weapons possession at the time of his arrest.

Kirby is now facing three additional weapons charges, including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a court order.

“The seizure of this type of weapon is deeply concerning,” Cpl. Chad Parsons said in a statement from the Penticton RCMP on Friday.

“We remain committed to actively pursuing individuals who pose a risk to our community.”

Kirby is scheduled to appear in Kelowna provincial court Monday.

According to court records, the Penticton man has dozens of previous convictions for various offences and breaches of his probation orders.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Penticton RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-492-4300.
