Man facing assault charges following incident at Port Moody hospital Thursday

A man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a peace officer and a hospital staff member at a hospital in Port Moody, B.C., Thursday night.

Front-line officers were called to Eagle Ridge Hospital following a report a patient had assaulted a medical staff member just before 8:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Port Moody Police Department released Friday afternoon.

Police arrived at the general hospital, located on the Port Moody-Coquitlam border, to find the patient restrained by security and hospital staff members.

While his arrest was being carried out, the man also allegedly assaulted a police officer, said the statement.

Colby Jandrew is facing charges of assault and assault of a peace officer, and is expected to appear in court in Port Coquitlam on Friday, police said.
