Police in New Westminster are asking the public for help as they investigate a hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the intersection of Boyd and Gifford streets around 11:20 p.m., the New Westminster Police Department said in a news release Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found “an injured adult female driver,” who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The vehicle that struck hers was found parked farther down Boyd Street, near Boundary Road, but whoever was behind the wheel had fled the scene, according to police.

“Our officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the event,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver, in the release.

He added that police believe the suspect vehicle is a 2001 grey Toyota Tacoma.

Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to call the NWPD at 604-525-5411, police said.
