Vancouver voters, mark your calendars. Some important dates and deadlines in the municipal byelection are coming up quickly.
The election will see two vacant seats filled on city council – with general voting day set for April 5.
People who want to vote early will have their first chance on Wednesday, March 26 at City Hall, where ballots can be cast between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. People who miss that opportunity but still want to vote early can do so again on April 1 – at the same location during the same hours.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot for home delivery is March 24 at noon. Those who want to pick-up a mail-in package have until April 1 at noon to request one and it must be picked up at the Election Office by April 4 at noon.
Vancouver residents – regardless of when they moved to the city – are eligible to vote if they are 18 years-old or older and have lived in B.C. for at least six months. People who own property in the city but live elsewhere may also be eligible to vote, according to a memo from the city.
Information about the candidates running is available online.
