Toronto police are investigating two separate robberies Thursday night, including one where three suspects armed with hammers robbed a cellphone store.

The first occurred near Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive. Police say they received a call for a robbery at 7:35 p.m.

Three suspects wearing masks attended a cellphone store and smashed display cases with hammers, police say.

They added that the suspect stole a quantity of merchandise and fled the area in a vehicle.

No physical injuries were reported. Police have not released suspect descriptions.

About 10 minutes later, police responded to an alarm system in the Dundas Street East and Victoria Street area downtown.

They say an unknown number of suspects stole a quantity of merchandise from a business that deals with metals. The suspects later drove away.

No one was injured in this incident, police say. No suspect information has been provided.

“Both investigations are still very active and ongoing. I do not have any information about whether these may be connected,” Toronto police media relations officer Const. Stephanie Miceli said in an email to CP24.
