Senior critically injured in Scarborough hit-and-run dies, police release suspect photos

Published:

Toronto police have released a photo of a driver wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Scarborough.

An 87-year-old woman who sustained life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run in Scarborough’s Golden Mile area last week has died in hospital and police have released a photo of the alleged driver who fled.

On Thursday, Toronto police provided an update on their investigation into the Jan. 9 collision, which occurred in the parking lot of a shopping plaza near Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

Police say a grey Volkswagen Atlas was travelling through the lot when it struck a woman. The driver fled, leaving the victim critically injured.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital, where she died on Thursday.

Meanwhile, investigators have obtained surveillance images of the suspected hit-and-run driver. She is described as having a slim build and long dark hair, and was last seen wearing an orange jacket, blue shirt, dark-coloured pants, and dark-coloured shoes.

Police have also released additional images of the suspect vehicle.

They are asking anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle to contact them at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
