Police have arrested and charged two people in connection with Toronto’s first homicide of the year.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 26, Toronto police were called to the area of Madison Avenue and Bloor Street West for reports of a male victim who had been found with “severe injuries.”

Police administered first aid to the victim, who was later identified by police as 27-year-old Darapheakdey “Daral” Sovann. The man was then taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.

Investigators with Toronto Police Service’s Homicide and Missing Persons Unit have since identified and located two suspects: Brooklynn Walsh, 24, and Cameron Brown, 21, both of Oshawa.

They have both been charged with second-degree murder.

Walsh was scheduled to appear in bail court on Jan. 30, while Brown had a Feb. 1 bail court appearance.

Initially, police believed that there may be three suspects, however they are now saying that there are no outstanding suspects in relation to this homicide.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
