There were nearly 15,000 calls to the City of Toronto tipline complaining about damaged green bins in a period of six months, according to data obtained by CTV Toronto.
Between January and June 2015, 14,951 calls were made to 311 about missing or damaged bins.
The calls were logged by postal code, with calls almost evenly split between the city's east and west. There were approximately 7,500 calls on each side of Yonge Street.
Although the total calls were evenly split, the top six postal codes with the highest number of calls were from regions in East York and Scarborough.
The area with the highest number of complaints was M1B, a region bordered by Finch Avenue, Markham Road, Highway 401 and the Scarborough-Pickering Townline. City staff took 485 calls about damaged or missing green bins from the M1B area in the six-month period.
The area with the second-highest number of complaints (440) was M2J bordered by Highway 401, the Don River, Finch Avenue East and Victoria Park Avenue.
West of Yonge Street, calls were most prevalent in the Bloordale Village (M6H) and Smithfield (M9V) areas.
