Leena Latafat has been a trusted face on CP24 since 2017. She is the co-anchor of one of the station’s flagship shows, "CP24 Live at 5." She covers everything that matters to GTHA residents, including politics, health care, affordability and crime. She specializes in breaking news. Leena started her journalism career in Winnipeg and Saskatoon, eventually covering stories for CTV News Kitchener, before moving back to her hometown of Toronto. She has covered a number of high-profile stories across the country, including the 2018 Danforth mass shooting that left two people dead and 13 others injured. She has also hosted various special shows over the years, and in 2022, she co-anchored CP24’s special coverage of the municipal election, Your Vote 2022. She also co-moderated CP24 and Newstalk 1010’s Toronto Mayoral Debate with John Moore. Leena has covered several municipal, provincial, and federal elections, and travelled to British Columbia in 2019 to cover NDP leader Jagmeet Singh’s federal campaign. She has interviewed politicians of all parties and levels, including former prime minister Stephen Harper. Leena is passionate about representation in the media, both on and off camera. She is proud to work at a station that reflects the diverse communities it serves and is always striving to ensure her coverage includes the voices of marginalized and racialized communities. She is a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s journalism program. She speaks English.
