A 33-year-old woman is facing a murder charge in the death of a Prince Albert man following an autopsy on Monday.

Officers discovered the body of Brett Charles, 35, after being called to an apartment on the 300 block of River Street West around 12:30 a.m. on Monday. The Prince Albert Police Service says his next of kin have been notified.

Three people were arrested at the apartment early Monday but later released without charges while investigators continued to examine the scene, and a forensic pathologist conducted an autopsy.

On Tuesday, police confirmed 33-year-old Alisha Ross was charged with both second-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with Charles’ death. Investigators say the pair knew each other.

Ross made her first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday.
