Saskatoon police arrest man after late-night weapons call

A 51-year-old man is in custody after Saskatoon police responded to a weapons call late Thursday night.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hilliard Street West and Ste Cecilia Avenue around 11:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS).

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect standing in the intersection, holding a knife and a multi-tool. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police believe the suspect was under the influence of an intoxicant, and a search of his person found methamphetamine.

The 51-year-old man is facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and breach of conditions.
