A street in Saskatoon’s Caswell Hill neighbourhood flooded following a water main break Wednesday night.

Photos shared on social media show a section of Caswell Hill at the intersection of 32nd Street and Avenue D North swamped with icy water.

The photos, posted on Saskatoon’s Reddit page, show a significant amount of water covering the road.

The City of Saskatoon confirmed the water main break on Wednesday evening, with a water advisory in place for the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Avenue D North, and the 400 block of 32nd Street West.

According to the city’s website, the water main repairs and the return of water service should take one to two days.

“We empathize with residents and businesses who are without running water and we are doing as much as possible to provide temporary drinking water. Water trailers are provided within 8 hours or when the next trailer becomes available,” the city said on its website.

Saskatoon received 11 centimetres of snow over the last two days, following a cold snap. It is unclear at this time whether the snowmelt or other factors contributed to the flooding.
