Man charged with murder after stabbing in north Saskatoon

A 53-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a stabbing incident left a 23-year-old man dead Monday night, Saskatoon police said.

Officers were called to the 3900 block of Miller Avenue around 8 p.m. for the report of an injured person suffering from stab wounds, a Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) news release said.

SPS said the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect had fled the scene by the time officers arrived but was later arrested near 2nd Avenue and Spadina Crescent East, SPS said.

The accused and victim’s names were not released.

Members of the Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Section are continuing to investigate, the release said.
