A G2 driver is facing charges of stunt driving and impaired driving after being stopped going 72 km/h over the speed limit south of Ottawa.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer conducting traffic enforcement at 3 a.m. Sunday spotted a vehicle going 182 km/h on Highway 416. The speed limit on the highway south of Ottawa is 110 km/h.
“The officer then entered into an impaired driving investigation at the roadside and the driver was arrested,” the OPP said on X.
The driver, a 20-year-old from Ottawa, is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act of stunt driving and a novice driver with a Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero. The driver is also facing charges of operation while impaired and dangerous driving.
The charge of stunt driving includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
