The lights are back on for thousands of homes and businesses in Ottawa’s west end after an early morning hydro outage.
Hydro Ottawa reported several outages in the Kanata, Centrepointe, Trend Village, Arlington Woods and Craig Henry areas, starting at 2 a.m.
The utility said the outage was due to “loss of supply from the provincial grid.”
Hydro was restored to all customers in the Kanata and Nepean areas as of 9:45 a.m.

Ottawa police reported “multiple traffic lights” were out in the Manotick/Barrhaven area due to hydro outages.
Hydro Ottawa crews are also working to fix broken equipment at one of its substations.
“In addition to loss of supply, we are experiencing equipment failure at one of our substations,” the utility said on X. “Our teams are on-site and working to resolve this as quickly as possible.”
