The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen vehicle on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township and charged a 23-year-old man from Quebec Wednesday.

Shortly before 11 a.m., officers located a stolen 2025 Jeep Wrangler that had been reported stolen from the Peel Region on the highway, police say.

That was when they used a spike belt to stop the vehicle, according to police. When it came to a stop, police arrested the suspect.

The suspect is facing multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from police officer, fail to stop for police, possession of device for the purpose of committing theft, and fail to surrender a driver’s licence.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Cornwall, Ont. at an unspecified date.
