A driver was taken to hospital Sunday morning after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s west end, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
It happened shortly after 9 a.m. when the driver was trying to flick a cigarette out the passenger-side window on the highway between Eagleson Road and Moodie Drive, said the OPP in a post on X.
Police add the driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver has been charged with careless driving, which is a $490 fine, and littering, which is $110 fine.
Upon conviction, they will also face six demerit points.
