A 31-year-old man is facing a charge of careless operation of a motor vehicle following a collision involving two tractor-trailers that closed Highway 401 for six hours Friday in the Kingston, Ont. area.

Emergency crews responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 near the Gardiners Road off-ramp just before 6 a.m.

Ontario Provincial Police say a call reporting the crash said a tractor-trailer struck another truck parked on the shoulder of the highway, causing the vehicle to catch on fire. Photos on social media showed a truck on fire following the crash.

One truck was transporting a load of food, and the other was carrying electronics.

Only minor injuries were reported following the crash.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for six hours to allow crews to clean-up the debris and remove the wreckage from the highway.

Police say a 31-year-old man from Palgrave is facing a charge of careless operation of a motor vehicle.
