A 22-year-old driver is facing a charge of stunt driving after being observed going 79 kilometres an hour over the speed limit on an interprovincial bridge connecting Ottawa and Gatineau.

The Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says an officer spotted a driver going 129 km/h on the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge. The speed limit is 50 km/h on the Ontario side of the bridge.

“Nothing screams ‘pull me over!’ like doing 79 km/h over the posted speed limit,” police said on X.

The driver is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Last week, police caught a driver going 135 km/h on the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge.

The speed limit is 70 km/h leading to the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River, before lowering to 50 km/h on the Ontario side of the interprovincial bridge.
