Ottawa police charged three drivers with stunt driving in a period of two hours on Highway 174 over the weekend.
The Ottawa Police Service released the results of a traffic enforcement program conducted on the highway and in surrounding areas of Ottawa’s east end on March 22 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Two drivers were caught speeding to 136 km/h and 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Another was caught going 118 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
All three were charged with stunt driving, which comes with an automatic 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
Police also caught two motorists with suspended licences and two others who were driving without valid insurance.
A total of 20 provincial offence notices were issued, including nine for speeding and six for document violations.
Another two hour enforcement initiative conducted last Friday in the city’s south end charged a total of 29 drivers for various offences, including speeding, obstructing plates and failing to move over for emergency vehicles.
