Two drivers will have to explain to their parents why the family car is impounded for two weeks, after they were stopped for speeding in Ottawa’s south end.

The Ottawa Police Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit stopped two drivers going more than 50 km/h over the speed limit on city streets Thursday.

Police say an 18-year-old G2 driver was observed going 134 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Road.

A 21-year-old driver was stopped speeding 121 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Riverside Drive near Walkley Road, according to police.

“Both driving their parents’ vehicles,” police said.

The two drivers are facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.
