Ontario Provincial Police say a Gatineau, Que. man is facing charges after an attempted ATM theft in the village of Lanark.
The incident happened at around 11:20 p.m. Monday, the OPP said. Officers responded to a bank in Lanark where a door had been forced open and arrested one person. Two other people ran away.
Police said the suspects had tried to break into the ATM, but it’s not believed any money was taken. Several power tools were left behind at the scene.
Officers with the canine unit tried to look for the two suspects who ran but could not find them.
The 35-year-old who was arrested at the scene is charged with breaking and entering and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
