World Record attempt for prostate cancer awareness

Published:

A North Bay health centre is hoping to set a Guinness World Record in order to bring awareness to prostate cancer.

This summer, to kick off the annual Ride for Dad, which is a campaign to raise money to support prostate cancer research and bring awareness to the disease, Cor Maximus will be holding an exercise ball class.

The event will take place on June 8 at Canadore College and the goal is to bring 500 people together to set a new World Record.

YMCA of Greater Toronto currently holds the record with 454 particpants in an exercise ball class.

“One in six Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes and 12 perish from the disease daily.” said John Strang, Telus Ride For Dad co-chair.

Khouri Long, owner of Cor Maximus in North Bay, says the exercise ball class is appropriate for ages eight and up, and is a ‘beginner style.’

“You can register as an individual, form a team, recruit your family or bring a friend, just come out and join us. There is no cost to participate, but we want everyone to take their record breaking ball home when you BUY the ball with a donation to the Ride for Dad.” said Long.
