A 20-year-old man is dead and a 30-year-old from Manitoulin Island has been charged with first-degree murder following a stabbing near the intersection of Cabot Street and Hearn Avenue in the Donovan area of Greater Sudbury on Friday evening.
On Feb. 2 shortly before 8 p.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to a weapons complaint in the residential area.
"A 20-year-old male was taken to Health Sciences North by Emergency Medical Services for treatment of edged weapon injuries," said the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS), in their initial news release early Saturday morning.
"The victim was later pronounced deceased."

The GSPS said detectives from its major crimes and criminal investigation divisions began the homicide investigation Friday evening.
The scene at the Cabot Street residence was held overnight by police while detectives obtained a search warrant.

"Our forensic identification unit processed multiple scenes and several witnesses were interviewed," said police in a news release Saturday afternoon.

CTV News observed the forensic unit at the scene shortly before noon Saturday.
Police said the scene was released by 4 p.m. after the warrant was executed.
A 30-year-old man from Wikwemikong First Nation on Manitoulin Island was taken into custody Friday evening and appeared in bail court on Saturday.
"He was remanded into custody," said police.
"He is facing charges of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace."

The GSPS said a post-mortem exam will be conducted next week in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
"The identity of the 20-year-old man will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes," said police.
