A 29-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man are facing multiple gun and drug-related charges following a raid by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
The investigation began on Tuesday, after detectives received information about the accused allegedly being in possession of firearms in the 200 block of Great Northern Road.
At approximately 7:20 a.m. on March 12, officers executed a search warrant at a unit within a multi-unit residential building, leading to the arrest of both individuals.
During the search, police seized a significant quantity of suspected drugs, drug trafficking paraphernalia and firearms, including approximately 144.5 grams of suspected fentanyl, 41.75 grams of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone tablets, cutting agent, drug packaging materials, a digital scale and two rifles – one of which was loaded, and ten rounds of ammunition.

“The total estimated street value of drugs seized is approximately $25,850,” said police in a news release Friday.
Police also seized $1,610 in cash.
Both accused face several charges, including multiple counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, drug trafficking and drug possession. The male accused faces additional charges, including possession of property obtained by crime and 16 counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
In the release, Chief Hugh Stevenson emphasized the seriousness of the charges, particularly for the male accused.

“Given the charges laid, it is clear the second accused in this case has a well-documented history of possessing firearms and ammunition,” Stevenson said.
“This pattern of repeat offences underscores the urgent need for accountability and ensuring that individuals involved in incidents with weapons remain in custody.”
The two were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
