Timmins police execute 69 warrants in month-long initiative

The Timmins Police Service made 69 arrests during a month-long initiative that focused on outstanding warrants in the community.

The Timmins Police Service has concluded a month-long warrant initiative that resulted in the execution of 69 arrest warrants, targeting individuals wanted on outstanding charges.

The initiative, which ran from Jan. 28 to Feb. 23, focused on locating and apprehending individuals identified as priorities by the Crown Attorney’s office. Once those cases were addressed, officers expanded their efforts to locate others wanted on outstanding warrants issued by the Timmins Police Service.

Acting Inspector Tim Chalmers praised the efforts of officers, stating in a news release, “The dedication and perseverance of our officers throughout this initiative reflect their commitment to public safety and the administration of justice. Their proactive approach and investigative efforts have contributed to holding individuals accountable and ensuring a safer community for all.”

The initiative emphasized proactive policing, with officers integrating warrant enforcement into their regular patrol duties. According to the Timmins Police Service, this approach reinforces their ongoing commitment to enforcing outstanding warrants and ensuring that individuals wanted by police are brought before the courts.

In its news release, the service highlighted its dedication to enhancing public safety and upholding the law through continued enforcement efforts and strategic initiatives.
