A man who fired a rifle this week in Timmins has been charged after a bullet hit his neighbour’s home.

The incident took place Dec. 13 at a north end residence in the city. No one was injured.

“Based on an investigative appraisal of the scene, it was determined that a rifle had been discharged within the residence causing the bullet to strike a neighbouring residence,” Timmins police said in a news release Friday.

“No occupant of either residence was harmed as a result of the incident.”

Police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and seized the firearm and ammunition as evidence.

The suspect, 34, is charged with careless use of a firearm, weapons possession and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He was released after a bail hearing Thursday and will be back in court Jan. 11.
