Suspect in fatal stabbing appears in Sault Ste. Marie court

Published:

Grieving mother continues to push for justice Shirley Marshall has set up a Facebook page in memory of her daughter, Taylor, who was murdered in what police have called a random attack.

The man charged with a random murder in Sault Ste. Marie last month made a court appearance Thursday.

Steve Jones of Toronto is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Taylor Marshall, 22, who was found dead in her home Sept. 7.

Police are unsure what time Marshall was killed, but they said at the time that both Marshall’s death and a second stabbing victim “were random acts of violence.”

Jones was in court Thursday to set a date for the next step in his case. It will return to court Nov. 23.
