As the snow fell Wednesday evening, there was a flurry of police activity in the Flour Mill area of Greater Sudbury after reports of multiple gunshots.
Officers were called to Bond Street off Notre Dame Avenue shortly after 2 p.m., police said, where a black Chevrolet Avalanche was involved in a collision with two other vehicles, a white Honda Civic and a black SUV.

“Gunshots had been fired from the Avalanche during the incident,” Det. Sgt. Kevin O’Shaughnessy said in a news release.
“It was confirmed that one of the involved vehicles had been struck by a bullet. Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident.”
Several yellow evidence markers could be seen in the snow-covered street and two officers with metal detectors were seen searching the ground.

The pickup truck fled the scene after first colliding with a white Honda Civic and then a black SUV, it was later found unoccupied on a nearby street
Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca the incident is believed to be targeted.
The driver of the Civic told CTV News he didn’t know the people in the truck.
He said he pulled up behind the truck at the stop sign on Notre Dame when it reversed into him, pushing his car backward.
A witness on the scene told CTV News Northern Ontario that he saw the pickup truck back up into the Civic and push it right into a snowbank, then collide with a second vehicle near Murray Street before fleeing the scene.
“At the same time in the vicinity, I heard gunshots,” the witness, who asked not to be identified, told CTV News.
“I heard – we all heard – very well that there were gunshots.”
Police are now looking for dashcam and home surveillance video.
“As we continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident, we ask anyone with information related to this incident and anyone with home surveillance camera or dashcam footage that might assist our investigation to contact our break enter and robbery unit at 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477,” police said.
